LITTLE NANAY PILOT EPISODE. Nora Aunor, Kris Bernal, and Bembol Roco lead the cast of the new Kapuso primetime drama Little Nanay. The pilot episode showed the childhood of Tinay (Kris Bernal) and how she was discovered to have intellectual disability. The story started in the year 1996 when Tinay’s mother (Gwen Zamora) was taking care of Tinay and her brothers Peter (Mark Herras) and Bruce (Juancho Trivino). They had a gathering in the house of Tinay's grandparents, Annie (Nora) and Berto Batongbuhay (Bembol Roco). Annie and Berto noticed that Tinay was quiet, and that she was not responding to their questions. Later on, it was shown that the parents died due to a car accident, leaving the three siblings under the care of the older Batongbuhays. The characters of Edgar (Keempee de Leon), Vivian (Gladys Reyes), and Archie (Hiro Peralta) were also introduced as neighbors of the Batongbuhays. When the Batongbuhay children went to school, they noticed that there were still no changes in the behavior of Tinay. Annie and Berto thought that going to regular school will change their granddaughter's actions. However, Tinay was still unable speak and even got embarassed when she peed in her underwear. Tinay’s teacher then advised the grandparents to seek professional help regarding her behavior. It turns out that Tinay has intellectual disability, formerly known as mental retardation. This means she learns and develops more slowly than other kids. At seven years old, Tinay has the mental capacity of a two-year old. A doctor points out that Tinay’s mind will stop developing until she reaches the capacity of a seven-year old. For this reason, the child undergoes therapy. The episode ended with the birthday celebration of the already 18-year-old Tinay. She is seen having fondness for her childhood friend Archie. PANGAKO SA ’YO BOOK TWO. There are several changes in the major characters. Angelo now works in Lolo Greg’s bakery business as a delivery boy, a baker, and a marketing person in charge of arranging business proposals. Lia has also changed from being an obedient, industrious daughter to a rebellious teenager who escapes her brother at night in order to go partying. Eduardo (Ian), on the other hand, is in prison where he developed a good relationship with fellow prisoners. They even surprised him for his birthday. PEPsters, what can you say about the pilot episode of Little Nanay and Book Two of Pangako Sa 'Yo?
KRIS Bernal still could not believe that she was chosen to play the lead role in the newest primetime series of the Kapuso channel "Little Nanay." Directed by Ricky Davao, the evening soap tells the story of Tinay, played by Bernal, a 25-year-old who has an intellectual ability of a nine-year-old kid. Amid her difficulties in life, Tinay is supported by her grandparents, played by seasoned actor Bembol Roco and Superstar Nora Aunor. In a recent interview with Bernal, the 26-year-old actress turned emotional when she talked about the project. She said it's her first time to play as a special child and she underwent several screen tests before finally getting the project. The actress also disclosed that before the launch of the series, she feared that the role might be taken away from her as she's not sure if she was doing the right job. She thanked the writers of the series, her co-stars and Davao for being patient with her. The actress said the project made her appreciate her craft more. Sean Pean's "I Am Sam" and 1999 film "The Other Sister" are among her research materials for the series. "Nanood talaga ako ng movies na related sa character ko, inalam ko din yung intellectual disability. Nagkaroon din kami ng immersion and nagpunta din talaga ako sa SpEd (Special Education) school at nakakita din ako ng patients talaga na may ganitong condition," she said. "Inaral ko talaga yung character and humingi talaga ako ng guidance with my director sa kung anong acting ang dapat sa role ko." Bernal also said that it helps when she's working opposite top caliber actors in the industry because she tends not to get comfortable in every scene. She is still in awe working with Roco, Aunor and veteran actor Eddie Garcia. "Hindi ko akalain na makakatrabaho ko sila Ms. Nora Aunor. Pinapanood ko lang dati sila Sir Eddie, si Tito Bembol, si Ate Shine (Dizon), sila Ate Gladys (Reyes). Hindi ko lang talaga akalain na ngayon kasama ko na sila," Bernal said. Aunor only has good words for Bernal, whom she described as sweet and hardworking. The Superstar added that she accepted "Little Nanay" as it is a story for all ages. Despite the challenges brought about by her condition, Tinay finds love and care through her grandparents Annie and Berto, half-brothers Peter and Bruce and childhood friend Archie whom she fondly calls "Super Nam" (an incorrect anagram of "Superman" which Archie gave to Tinay as code name). Tinay develops an attachment to Archie which she mistaken for love. Wikipedia
